What is Open Air?

Open Air is a wireless internet connectivity service brought to you from Abu Dhabi National Exhbitions Company. You can access broadband internet through a wireless "Wi-Fi" local area network (WLAN). Since data is received and transmitted on radio signals, instead of wires, you are able to browse the internet free from wires around you.

How does Open Air work?

Open Air is broadcast from wireless access points situated around the Abu Dhabi National Exhbitions Centre, this broadcast can be picked up by a wireless internet device if you are within the coverage of the Open Air signal, ranging from 50 feet to 300 feet from the access points. Upon logging into Open Air you will be able to access wireless internet from wherever you're situated.

What do I need?

All you need is an internet "Wi-Fi" device; this may come in the form of your laptop or PDA. If you're not sure that your device is "Wi-Fi" enabled we suggest you consult your owner's manual.

Is Open Air secure?

Whenever you communicate over the internet using a wired or wireless connection, there is always a risk that your transmissions could be intercepted.

How fast is Open Air?

Open Air is a high-speed internet connection that allows you to take full advantage of the benefits of broadband without the restriction of wires. The speed of the connection you receive to your internet device will vary and is affected by a number of factors including:

  • Number of visitors to the Exhibition that are using Open Air
  • Obstructions blocking the signal from the Open Air access points
  • The model of wireless card and software you are using on your wireless device

Generally you can expect to receive a very good signal and connection speed from Open Air

Do you guarantee the quality or the bandwidth of Open Air?

The service is provided on an "as is" basis. Abu Dhabi National Exhbitions Company makes no warranty or guarantee of any kind expressed or implied to the exact bandwidth or quality of service received to the visitor.

How far away from an access point can I connect to the internet?

Abu Dhabi National Exhbitions Company has implemented 250 access points around the venue. A usual connection distance is around 300 feet with no obstructions, however at any point in the exhibition hall you will be no further than 50 feet away from an access point giving you full coverage at all times.

How can I log out of Open Air?

Open Air doesn't offer the facility to log out, your session time is continuous from the time you access Open Air.

Can I monitor my internet usage?

You can monitor your internet usage on the Open Air status page which if you are on a laptop was launched upon connecting to Open Air.

If you're not on a laptop or have a pop-up blocker in place you will need type http://connect.openair.ae/status to see your connection time.

How much does Open Air cost?

The charges for Open Air depend on the connection package you have purchased. Please see our pricing page for further details.

How long are the Open Air scratch cards valid for?

Once a card is activated its validity is for the duration of internet time purchased.

Can I log in and out more that once?

Open Air doesn't run a log in - log out system, once you have initially logged in your session expires after the purchased internet time is up, regardless of use or not.

Where can I purchase an Open Air scratch card?

You can purchase Open Air scratch cards at designated outlets situated around ADNEC.

Do I need to configure my internet settings?

No! Open Air is completely plug and play, meaning you can use your wireless internet devices without modification.
